SINCE1947.
We've been at this for over 75 years. Same piece of ground, same reason for being here, a lot more members and a lot of stories.
HOW IT STARTED.
A small group of sportsmen from the Maywood area pooled their money in 1947 to lease a piece of land west of the city. The idea was simple: have a place to shoot and fish without driving three hours.
The club grew slowly at first. A couple of trap fields, a small lake they stocked themselves, and a clubhouse that started as a converted barn. Members built a lot of it with their own hands on weekends.
Over the decades they added more fields, the second lake, an archery range and camping. The membership grew. But the thing that stayed constant was the attitude: no pretense, no politics, just people who like being outside doing it together.
Today there are hundreds of members and the waiting list can be long. But the club still runs on volunteers, member dues and the same kind of handshake culture it started with.
WHAT WE'RE ABOUT.
BROTHERHOOD
Membership means something here. You know the guys at the range by name. You help a new member figure out his footing. That's just how it works.
THE OUTDOORS
We built this club so people could spend more time outside. Not staring at a screen, not sitting in traffic. Outside.
TRADITION
We've been doing this since 1947. Better equipment, more members, but the core of why people join has stayed exactly the same.
