FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
The things people ask us most. If your question isn't here, give us a call.
MEMBERSHIP
How do I join?
You need a current member to sponsor you. They sign your application and vouch for you at the member meeting. Download the application on the membership page and go from there.
How long does the process take?
Applications are reviewed at member meetings, which happen a few times a year. Plan on one to three months from application to approval, depending on timing.
Do I need to know someone who is already a member?
Yes. A current member in good standing has to sponsor your application. If you don't know anyone, come out on a shooting day, introduce yourself, and see if someone is willing to sponsor you. Most members are happy to help.
What does membership cost?
Shooting membership is $150 per year. Full membership is $450 per year. There may be a one-time initiation fee. Check the current membership page for the latest numbers.
SHOOTING
What days and times are the ranges open?
Trap: Wednesday evenings 5–9 PM and weekends 9 AM–4 PM. Sporting clays: weekends 9 AM–3 PM. Archery: dawn to dusk every day. Hours can change for leagues or special events.
Can I bring a guest?
Full members can bring guests on a limited basis. Guests pay range fees and must be accompanied by the member at all times. Shooting members have more limited guest privileges. Check the current bylaws.
Do I need to bring my own ammunition?
Yes for trap and sporting clays. The club does group ammo orders a few times a year where members can buy at reduced prices. Archery is BYO equipment.
Is there instruction available for beginners?
No formal lessons, but members are generally happy to help a new shooter get started. Show up on a Saturday morning and say it's your first time. Someone will walk you through it.
FISHING
What fish are in the lakes?
Both lakes are stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill and crappie. The big lake also has catfish and some northern pike. We restock regularly.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, an Illinois fishing license is required regardless of membership. That's state law and we can't waive it.
Are boats available?
Rowboats are available for full members at no extra charge. No motorized boats on the small lake. Limited electric motors are allowed on the big lake. Check the current fishing rules.
GROUNDS AND CAMPING
Can I camp at the club?
Full members can camp on club grounds. Tent and RV sites are available. No reservations needed most weekends. Call ahead for holiday weekends.
Are there restroom facilities?
Yes, there are restrooms near the clubhouse and at the main shooting area. The camping area has basic facilities.
Can I bring my family?
Families are welcome at social events and camping. The ranges and fishing lakes are members-only areas where guests need to be accompanied by the sponsoring member.
